1. AirBnB is aiming to list on the US stock market, in what will be an IPO valuation of nearly US$35 billon. The IPO plans come as a surprise with AirBnB heavily impacted by COVID travel restrictions – having laid off nearly a quarter of its workforce and seeking $2 billion in emergency funding from investors earlier this year.

2. Vanderbilt University student Sarah Fuller has become the first woman to play in a major conference for an American football team. Fuller is more commonly the goalkeeper for Vanderbilt’s championship-winning women’s soccer team but was called upon by the head coach, Derek Mason.

3. Chief Executive of Macquarie Shemara Wikramanayake is looking to establish more hybrid work arrangements at Macquarie to encourage more women into applying for jobs. “Working to ensure diversity of thought and capability is critical,” she said.

4. Sport New Zealand has appointed its first ever female CEO, Raelene Castle. Castle was the former Rugby Australia Chief Executive and on the board of directors for the International Nedball Federation.

5. During Day 6 the UN Women’s #16DaysofActivism, the death toll of women who have been violently killed in Australia reached 48. The researchers of Counting Dead Women Australia recorded three deaths in a single day, which is the second occurrence of this since the register began in 2012.
