Study reveals COVID19 school closures affected mother’s mental health but not father’s

Having to perform childcare and home schooling, on top of their own jobs, has led to more mothers feeling depressed, not being able to sleep and negative self-esteem, in contrast to men for whom “it made no difference.” These findings come from a study of 1,500 parents of children in England aged between 4 and 12 on how they coped with school closures, due to covid19 lockdowns.

Female members continue to be banned from Sydney elite male-only ‘gentlemen’s club’

On Tuesday, the Australian Club debated whether to allow women to join and therefore change the secretive 183-year-old club’s constitution, which dictates only men can join. In a statement, the club said, “the meeting determined that the 75% threshold to pass the resolution was not met.” The Macquarie Street club’s members include former Liberal prime ministers John Howard and Malcolm Turnbull whom both declined to comment on the outcome.

Rachel Carcell is the first woman to work as a firefighter in the city’s history and has been working toward this goal since she was a teenager. She said “being the first female here, I want other females to see that they can do this. NBL to appoint their first female Indigenous referee

Jacqui Dover will make history as the NBL’s first female Indigenous referee, debuting during the League’s Indigenous Round. Sarah L. Belliveau is to be the first woman to lead BerryDunn, the Portland-based accounting firm, as their CEO and managing principle. The promotion comes amid a lack of female leadership in the accounting profession nationwide, with one study reflecting that women make up merely 23% of partners in accounting or finance firms in America.
