1. Kamala Harris has been selected as Joe Biden’s vice-presidential running mate, making her the first Black woman & first woman of Asian descent on a major party’s presidential ticket.

2. Telstra’s new director, Bridget Loudon, has become the youngest independent director of an ASX top 200 company. The 32-year-old is the founder and CEO of talent marketplace Expert360.

3. The Grattan Institute released a report this week pitching the Government to introduce cheaper childcare to boost female participation in the workforce. They cited the ‘lifetime earnings gap’ between men and women, which shows if current working patterns continue, the average 25-year-old woman today who becomes a mother can expect to earn $2 million less over her lifetime than the average 25-year-old man who becomes a father.

4. New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced Auckland would enter level-three lockdown for 3 days, until 12pm on Friday, after 4 unsourced cases of COVID-19 were revealed from one single family. The rest of NZ will be in level 2 restrictions until Friday.

5. The recently released 2020 Fortune’s Global 500 list includes only 13 females CEOs of the world’s 500 biggest companies, of which zero are women of colour. This is also the first time in six years that there are no Black female CEOs.
