The wine

If you answer 4 questions about your wine consumption to Naked Wines here – you’ll receive 12 bottles for $50.

Indulge with VinoMofo in their ‘Secret Deals’ with some bargain prices for good wine…only catch is the label and producer are secrets, here.

JustWines.com also has some serious deals here, showing you that planning ahead and ordering online can definitely be a winner’s choice.

The food

Based on the offering at each retailer, I’m making a big call! Woolies has the best options for turkey, Coles for ham and Aldi for all the trimmings in between.

Woolworths:

Coles:

Aldi:

The cocktails

Just with one bottle of liquor and a few different mixing options, you’ll have yourself some big crowd pleasers without having to buy a whole shelf of different bottles at the liquor store.

Zubrowka – Bison Grass Vodka (a Polish herby style vodka).

  1. Zubrowka and apple juice – very refreshing classic
  2. Zubrowka and cider – topped with apple slices
  3. Zubrowka, grapefruit and thyme – make a sugar syrup infused with sprigs of thyme, add 2 ounces of Zubrowka, 1 ounce of grapefruit juice and ¾ of an ounce of thyme syrup. Shake it up with ice and you have yourself a winner.

Rose Sangria – for a hot summers’ day, a few pitches of Rose Sangria never go astray. The best part is that you can get some quality rose for very cheap prices – adding the sweetness of the fruit will take away any acidity from a bad purchase.

  1. Add watermelon, lime, lemonade, strawberries, ice and rose to a pitcher.
  2. Top with some mint when serving

Putin’s dessert towards the later end of the afternoon, to accompany a nice pudding, you may want a drink option that serves the sweet tooth. An easy and cheap option is the wide variety of Russians!

  • Nutty Russian – Ice, Frangelico, Milk and/or heavy cream
  • White Russian – Ice, Vodka, Kahlua and heavy cream
  • Irish White Russian – Ice, Baileys, whiskey, coffee liqueur and heavy cream
  • Irish Black Russian – Ice, whiskey, coffee liqueur, heavy cream, topped with stout beer
