1. The highest paid female actors in 2020 include Sofia Vergara, Ellen Pompeo and Elisabeth Moss – showing the power of television and streaming services over the disrupted box office industry this year.

2. The Australian women’s soccer team, the Matildas, have secured Swedish coach Tony Gustavsson to lead them into the World Cup 2023.

3. Japanese designer Kenzo Takado has passed away, after contracting the coronavirus at age 81.

4. Twenty five years after the landmark UN Women’s ‘Fourth World Conference,’ which adopted a roadmap to achieve equality for women, not a single country has yet to achieve its stated goals. Addressing the meeting, French President Emmanuel Macron said “women’s rights are under attack.”

5. The major Australian superannuation fund, HESTA, has teamed up with a range of fund management companies to lobby for Australia’s 200 biggest businesses to hire at least 40% of women in executive roles. HESTA is lead by CEO, Debby Blakey.
