1. Coca-Cola Amatil, headed up by CEO Alison Watkins, has received a takeover offer of $9.28 billion from Coca-Cola European Partners. Subject to due diligence and takeover conditions, the board is said to unanimously recommend the bid terms to shareholders.

2. Hilary Clinton was born today in 1947, the US 1st lady (1993-2001), Senator of New York (2001-09), US Secretary of State (2009-13) and 2016 Democratic Presidential nominee.

3. PayPal recently announced it would begin accepting Bitcoin as payment from February 2021. This has caused the cryptocurrency’s value to hit a high of $18,267 AUD.

4. Pip Harrison, Managing Director of Tourism Australia, is urging Australian’s to start making their summer holiday plans state-side. With the likelihood of borders remaining closed increasing, Pip said “our recovery efforts are towards industry support and stimulating domestic tourism.”

5. The European Central Bank president Christine Lagarde has said the ECB is looking “very seriously” at creating a digital euro. With COVID bringing a shift toward e-commerce, Lagarde has cited the pandemic bringing changes to the way “we work, we trade and we pay.”
