1. After a landmark court ruling, employers with casual employees who undertake regular full-time hours will have to be offered permanent full-time or part-time employment after 12 months.

2. Virus researcher, Dr. Lara Herrero, from Griffith University’s Institute for Glycomics has been recognised at the Women in Business Awards Australia for her work in vector-borne diseases. Dr. Herrero said “we have discovered a potential new treatment for viral arthritis which has successfully completed phase II clinical trials and is now entering phase III.”

3. The Department of Trade and Industry in the Philippines has launched a new app called SheTrades, to help Filipino women entrepreneurs to build networks and strike business deals.

4. A new Women in STEM program is to be announced today, offering an industry-supported higher education diploma or an advanced diploma in STEM. “Australia needs more women working in science, technology, engineering or mathematics to help drive our COVID-19 recovery,” Education Minister Dan Tehan said.

5. Jane Ford, co-founder of the makeup brand Benefit has died at age 73. On this day today, wax museum founder Madam Marie Tussaud was born in 1761.
