1.Cathy O’Connor has been named the CEO and Managing Director of oOh!Media. Ms O’Connor has spent 35 years working in Australian media organisations, with the last 12 years as CEO of Nova Entertainment Group and 5 years as the Managing Director of DMG Radio.

2. There are fears the Coronavirus pandemic will negatively impact gender equality in the political space, as fewer women have put themselves forward for government elections. Gender equality expert and former councillor, Ruth McGowan, told the ABC that “so many women that might have run for council in normal times have decided that it’s just too tough,” due to factors like childcare responsibility and financial stress.

3. World Cup soccer champion, co-captain of the US Women’s National soccer team and activist Megan Rapinoe had her show ‘Seeing America with Megan Rapinoe’ premiere on August 1, produced by HBO Sports. Rapinoe’s vision for the show is to “talk about the challenges we face as a nation and how we can move forward together”. Her guests have included politician, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, comedian Hasan Minhaj, and Pulitzer-award winning journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones.

4. Data compiled by Goldman Sachs Group Inc. showed women have female fund managers were more successful stock pickers, due to a preference for tech stocks. Meanwhile, male mangers tend to lean toward financial shares.

5. Yuriko Koike, the “lipstick ninja,” one of the most popular politicians in Japan, has been re-elected as the Governor of Tokyo, with approval ratings over 70%. The inequalities in Japan’s political space have been highlighted as Japan searches for its new Prime Minister after current PM Shinzo Abe quit due to ill health. Many are backing Koike to be Japan’s first female Prime Minister.
